The Hook Up aims to solve these problems for musicians, bands, artists and producers by offering a variety of services to help further your career, working within a budget you can afford. The business side of your music is equally as important as the writing process, but simply being a great musician doesn’t necessarily prepare you for this aspect of the industry. We can essentially be a record label for hire, handling various tasks that would traditionally have been taken care of by a label, including drawing up cash flow forecasts, budgets and a release timeline to ensure that everything is done correctly in the build up to your release – without taking ownership of any of your copyrights! If your budget can afford it we can even setup your own label and run it for you. We can also provide targeted press and radio mailouts to maximize your exposure prior to release. All of this is will leave you with more time to focus on the part that you’re good at – making music!

Self-releasing is no longer a last option for bands and artists – it is now considered the way to launch your career. Many independent and major labels won’t even consider signing artists unless they have self-released 3 or 4 tracks, built up their fan base and done some touring or live performances to support them. In short they want you to do a lot of the work that they used to do in advance. Founder Jonny ‘Reggae’ Goodwillie has been involved in virtually all aspects of the music business over the past 20 years – from running free parties in the late 80′s/early 90′s, to promoting club nights and live performances across all genres (including Roots Garden, the UK’s longest running reggae night), booking artists for Beachdown Festival 2008, presenting a new music show on Brighton’s Juice 107.2 FM radio station, DJ’ing across Europe and most importantly running Catskills Records & Music Publishing. Catskills has been operating for over 13 years, and has released acclaimed albums by artists such as Husky Rescue, Pepe Deluxé and Black Grass to name but a few. Catskills artists have toured the world, played many of the top festivals such as Glastonbury and Lollapooloza and have soundtracked adverts for brands such as Levis Twisted, iPod and Ray Ban.
