Sharliza came from Singapore to the UK to be a rockstar. Now based in London, she’s writing an album that is a cross between Hot Chip, Stereolab and Sesame Street, packaged nicely in 3-minute pop snippets.
She led a madcap indie-pop band called The Rrrs which stomped and stumped the lively local music scene in CoventryandLeamington Spa. They had a lot of fun making cooking and underwear videos. They also played over 50 gigs up and down the UK, and a couple in Singapore and Malaysia. Sadly they stopped going in 2008 after they released a double A single which generated rave reviews and death threats.
Sharliza is now teaming up with Afua, her mate from British Academy of New Music and gypsy violinist Ursula Donelly, whom she met while interviewing for a website lackey. Tip: if you play an instrument, please put it in your CV like Ursula did.
Sharliza is mental, catchy and fresh. Check her out!
